Mengjia Sun.tif
Dr. Mengjia Sun

Mengjia obtained his PhD in physical chemistry at the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ICCAS) in 2019, where he studied the photoinduced energy transfer process in doped organometallic microcrystals. He joined Libai’s group in early 2023, and is working on the manipulation of spin dynamics in metal-halide perovskites. His research interests focus on the photophysical process of organic and organic-inorganic crystalline materials.

Yang, Hanjun 2022-07-15 cleaned.jpg
Dr. Hanjun Yang

Hanjun Yang obtained Ph. D in Chemistry in May 2021 at Brown University. His Ph. D research focused on the synthesis and post-synthetic transformation of lead-based and lead-free perovskite nanocrystals. Hanjun joined Purdue in 2022 as Lillian Gilbreth Postdoctoral Fellow, under the advisory of Prof. Letian Dou (Chemical Engineering) and Prof. Libai Huang (Chemistry). His research interests focus on developing novel two-dimensional nanomaterials and their ultra-fast spectroscopy, including interface excitons, spin-relaxation, etc. Hanjun is a cat lover (virtual only) and a coffee enjoyer (presumably) and love to share random trivials!)

Doctoral Students

Angana De

Angana did her Bachelor's at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), majoring in chemistry and minoring in material sciences. Her undergraduate thesis (at IISc) and summer internship (at TUM, Germany), both of which involved the synthesis and characterization of metallic nano-hybrids for catalytic applications, invoked her fascination for nanomaterials. She joined the Huang group in Fall 2019, and works on studying the dynamics of charge and energy transfer across organic - inorganic interfaces in 2D materials. She is a passionate dancer and loves to travel.

Galina Grechishnikova

Galina loves chemistry since high school so she got a bachelor degree in chemistry in Saint-Petersburg University. Due to her passion for mathematics Galina chose physical chemistry as her division. During four years of undergraduate studies Galina worked with lasers and electrochemical cells. She joined Huang research group in the fall of 2019 to study energy transfer in organic systems and photosynthetic complexes. Galina loves capybaras and sushi. She enjoys being outside and spending all her time with her two fluffy cats.

Jonas Mark Peterson

Jonas graduated from Hope College in 2020 with a B.S. in Chemistry and a B.A. in Philosophy. After a brief stint on Gentex Corporation's research and development team, Jonas joined the Huang Group in 2021. Since then, his work has focused on understanding the dynamics of excitons in transition metal dichalcogenides and how they can be strongly coupled to light using photonic devices. Outside the lab, Jonas enjoys playing disc golf and taking his cat Erwin for walks.

Alexander Thomas Flohr

Is caught up in running some g2 experiments. Will send his bio soon!

Emma Elizabeth Daggett

Emma graduated from St. Olaf College in 2020 with a B.A. in Chemistry, where she researched the optical properties of perovskite nanocrystals. Emma joined Purdue in the fall of 2021, and is co-advised by Dr. Libai Huang and Dr. Jonathan Hood. She studies light-matter interactions with organic molecules. Outside of lab, she enjoys cooking, art, and spending time with her cats.

Qiushi Ma

Qiushi earned his bachelor's degree from Hefei University of Technology in 2021. Later that year, he moved to the United States to begin his graduate studies at Marquette University, where he conducted research on synthesizing conductive Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) and understanding carrier dynamics through transient absorption and Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations. In the summer of 2023, he joined the Huang Research Group. Outside the lab, he enjoys playing badminton and basketball.
